Welcome to our web sight!

We are 15 miles west of Bangor, and 60 miles from Bar Harbor a major tourist attraction and the Atlantic Ocean. In a small farming community of Corinth is where our home has been made.   I attribute my obsession with raising quality animals to my parents Steve and Marianne Cox.  They competed on an local and National level with Quarter Horses very successfully.  The highlight of their show career  was winning the All American Quarter Horse Congress, Non-Pro horse division with our stallion "Tallahassee Jack".  This is the largest one breed horse show in the world!  My father had a keen eye and low tolerance for imperfections.  Whether it be horses, dogs, dairy goats or hogs for our freezer they need to be of the best quality that we can afford.

I started my venture with dairy goats like many others as a 4-H project in May of 1990.  My 4-H Leader Kenny Silsby first introduced me to his herd of Nubians.  My grandmother "Ellie" took me to look at a nearby farm that had some Nubian doe kids for sale.  We looked them over only to find that they were bucks!  Discouraged, we went home.  I went to the newspaper classified ads.  Here I found an ad for "Saanen kids for sale $50" and so it begins....... Nana purchased twin does Honeyrock Hannah and Honeyrock Heidi.  Kenny mentioned that there was a show at the Windsor fair grounds in a few weeks. I will never forget my first ADGA sanctioned show, Barb Norcross was the judge.  There I was, 11 years old, with two little white goats.  I had no idea what to do, so I reflected back on the showmanship skills I had used in previous years showing Quarter Horses.  That was it!  I won the showmanship and fitting class, and the rest they say is history.

I had raised Saanens and Alpines until 1997 when I had the opportunity to lease four does from the Highwater herd in CT.  These does were all daughter's of ++*B Prancing Conan The Barbarian.  They all went onto become permanent champions as first freshening two-year-olds.  In the spring of 1998 I had an opportunity to export my Saanen herd to Newfoundland to a cooperative.  We all know that you don't have many opportunities to make money with goats.  I was entering college and needed to cut back on the workload, so off they went!

I have had the opportunity to attend three ADGA National shows with many top placing's, numerous conventions, I was named ADGA Alternate Youth Rep. in 1998 and became an ADGA licensed judge in 2013.

Today, with my beautiful wife Julie, and two wonderful children Nathan, and Madeline, we make up life on the farm.  We also have a very special helper, Ricky Julie's brother loves riding horses and going to the fair's.  To maintain the work/life balance we limit the number of does we breed to 10.  I can say this is not easy but it can be done. We have two Quarter Horses, a pony, chickens for eggs and meat, and we raise pigs for the freezer.  We hope to add a small beef project in the future.

To keep our herd small we only keep a few select kids, therefore the majority of the crop is offered for sale.  We can ship from Bangor International Airport.

Our herd health is fairly simple.  We feed a dairy goat ration twice a day and provide the best quality locally sourced hay we can find.  Our animals are tested annually for CAE.  Our herd is 100% CAE negative.  We use antibiotics on an as needed basis and we vaccinate for CD/T.  To lighten the workload we do allow the majority of our kids to nurse.  We are happy to hand raise kids for an additional fee of $100.  We are proud of the type and quality of animal that we produce here.  We want our customers to feel the same way about their purchase, after all this is a significant investment.  We only offer animals for sale that we would keep and show ourselves.

Ordering

We accept a $100 deposit on almost any reservation, with the balance due prior to shipment.  All veterinary costs and shipping fees are the responsible of the buyer and must be paid in full prior to departure.  We prefer that you pick up your animals at the farm so you can have a chance to meet the family (both two and four legged).

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions about our herd or what might be available. Tom Cox (207)-576-4731
